The snake stuck around for at least 15-20 minutes checking us out. Although the pictures wouldn't turn out, you could see its body on the other side of the tree along the trunk.
As a child, a snake sighting meant a rush for a shovel or hoe and the subsequent horror show as my Mom or Dad chopped up the offensive reptile, no matter how small or what kind of snake it was. To this day, my younger sister is terrified of snakes. It's no wonder. This guy was pretty cool though.
Our snake colony has been pretty quite so far this season. We've only had one sighting, and a couple of times have heard them in the attic. I guess they're waiting for the grass to be mowed too.

ReplyDelete5' up, huh? That's just about high enough to strike and bite you in the eye. No freakin' way. If I think they're scary down on the ground, I'd lose my mind looking one in the eye.
I'm going to go kiss the Colorado ground that thankfully does not support very many snakes...just a few and only when I say these words "Geez, it's been a while since I've seen a snake around here".
