I Love Foam!

I really don't know what I'd do if I didn't have foam to prop up my handles. I do need to restock my foam collection. Many pieces are too small, and I am forced to stack them precariously to reach the heights I need.

I have been working on these 3 larger baskets for the past week. I attached the handles last night after dinner.

I should quit bitching about working after dinner. I was only in the studio for an hour. Big deal.

Now I just have to babysit them while they dry and watch for cracks.

  1. What a great post. I always just grab something near by to prop stuff up with and sometimes it makes an indent or impression in the clay I don't want. These pieces of foam have me drooling. I have even used paint rollers which are nice and soft to lean up against tall pieces, foam store here I come, thanks so much for showing your propping techniques.

  2. Kari, the best place to get foam around here is the fabric outlet just off of the I-40 exit at Swannanoa. They have this great bin of cut off pieces and just odd pieces that they sell for something like 80 cents each. Some of them are pretty big and can be cut into smaller sizes. Keep that in mind for the next time you're in town.
